What is College Readiness?

Any Junior who took the PERT at LHS (not every Junior was targeted to take the PERT—Mrs. Lane received a list from the district office), received their scores through their p.1 teachers.

Not showing “college ready” indicates the student needs Math for College Readiness &/or English 4 for College Prep. Both of these are solid courses and should be viewed in a positive light. (I think the negativity comes from it being “mandated” by the State.)

Besides the PERT test, a student may show college readiness by scoring at or above “readiness” on the ACT or SAT. Below are the scores (important that they look at their SUBSCORES, not their composite score):

ACT

  • Reading     18
  • English       17
  • Math         19

SAT

  • Verbal       440
  • Math         440

Again, that’s room C65. Thanks for sharing and contributing to a worthy cause.

The sponsors involved were able to provide NCF with much needed supplies with their generous contributions. Without them, this festival would not be what it is today. Please visit these sponsors (listed on the About NCF page) and thank them for their support of our education system and for bettering our community.

When & What:

This is a reading literacy festival where students learn through special activities geared around a theme. Prepare yourself for a pirate invasion!  The Festival will be held on April 5th, 2013. It is not open to the public and individual schools must register for this event.
