The teachers and staff of Lakeland High School, with the best interest of our students at heart, have worked diligently to follow all of the rules relating to the possible conversion of Lakeland High School to a charter school, in consultation with the School District. Despite those efforts and the consultation of the School District, a question has arisen regarding the timing of the voting procedures. Rather than subject our students and parents to more uncertainty, the charter committee has decided to suspend the parent vote and the submission of the charter application until next year.

Several issues have led to an interest in pursuing conversion charter status by many of Lakeland High School's stakeholders.
