Family & Consumer Science Philosophy

The department recognizes its role in the total education process at Lakeland Senior High School. We recognize the need to prepare the student with occupational skills as well as skills needed for coping with day-to-day living. Every student should have the opportunity to develop an awareness and understanding of the roles and choices what will enable him to function in society. We are concerned with the individual student and strive to provide classroom experiences that give the student an opportunity not only to work as part of a group, but also to examine his own individuality and to develop a positive self-image. We strive to provide an education that will give each student the opportunity to improve his quality and standard of life.
